Coming Soon: In-person WSD Events

We’re in WSD planning mode again – and this time, we’re looking at in-person events.

That’s because when you imagine a public speaker, you are likely to picture a person standing on a stage with a podium and speaking in front of a live audience. After all, this face-to-face exchange between a designated speaker and an audience has a 2500-year history.

Nothing beats speaking synchronously, meaning your audience is actually experiencing it in real-time. And it allows you to connect with the audience – and get them involved and engaged.

The 5 Who Made WSD 2021 KL Happen

On March 16, 2021, we had blogged about the successful conclusion to WSD 2021 Kuala Lumpur via Zoom.

Here are the two photos of the five people, i.e. CV+ and more importantly, the three persons who greatly assisted us to make WSD 2021 Kuala Lumpur happen:

(L-R) Balan Rengasamy, Victor Ong, Cyril Jonas, Ahmad Fakhri and Jamilah Samian. Taken at Amber Chinese Muslim Restaurant at Nexus, Bangsar South in Kuala Lumpur.

Six WSD 2021 Videos Surpass 1,000 Views

Yesterday, a routine check of our YouTube channel “WSD with CV Plus” revealed that we had six WSD 2021 speakers whose videos have all amassed more than a thousand views each! We are mighty pleased!

It’s always good to know that our viewership is thriving because it is a measure of our success with our outreach – the more viewers we pull in, the more people get to know about World Speech Day.

More importantly, World Speech Day introduces people to public speaking and that it is a fun thing for everybody. It is here that your voice is heard in the public space.

We embrace the conviction that public speaking brings people together. Therefore, the concept of World Speech Day is the occasion to reach out to unexpected voices everywhere – and a platform where we share ideas, impressions and insights.

WSD 2021 Johor Bahru: We Care

As we had indicated much earlier, WSD 2021 Johor Bahru had embedded a “We Care” project into the said event. It’s all about extending a helping hand to those in need – particularly during these challenging Covid times. It’s about being part of a community.

This video of a speech by one musician illustrates that help, no matter how small – is still help because in our little way, it shows we care:

Seventy-five percent of the registration fees we collected went to eleven local musicians – and while it is not a big amount by any stretch of the imagination, it still helped them in some small way.

As Teddy Iskandar reiterated in the above video: “…sometimes a little really helps a lot at this particular time”!

The accompanying texts serve as our record of the recipients’ acknowledgements and have no other purpose than just that.

WSD 2021 Checklist for March

Four WSD events in March 2021!

That’s pretty good that we can pull them off. And we can rightly say that they have all been successfully conducted.

Thanks to Dr. Zahra Moharrer and LifeTime Skills as well as Amelia Lim and World Speech Day Brunei for our forays beyond Malaysian shores. We’re pleased to note that they intend to work with us again in 2022.

And here’s the good news! We’re not finished yet for 2021! Keep a lookout for our announcements on our upcoming WSD events!

WSD 2021 Johor Bahru: 91 Registrations

We are pleased that we managed to register 91 speakers for our WSD 2021 Johor Bahru – meaning, we equaled WSD 2021 Kuala Lumpur registrations.

Indeed, we can give ourselves a hearty pat on the back because we made it possible! Particularly all the speakers who sent us their pre-recorded speeches for upload onto our dedicated YouTube channel "WSD with CV Plus".

And of course, a special mention to Melissa Lissete who initiated the “We Care” project and have us embed it into this particular World Speech Day event.
