World Speech Day 2021 on YouTube: An Update

Recognition to the Top 6 videos from the “WSD with CV Plus” channel on YouTube – yes, all six are the WSD 2021 promo clips – and each one of them has already obtained more than 400 views! 

This post is an update – and as I’ve previously mentioned, that is not just surprising, but that I’m amazed too because the micro videos are just promo clips and nothing more than that!

YMCA Kuala Lumpur Join WSD 2021

WSD 2021 Promo Video by Alan Chew

Alan Chew, formerly with the One World Toastmasters Club – is a member of World Speakers’ Coalition. 

His speeches consist of finely nuanced expressions that are meticulously thought through. You get this calming effect from a speaking style that is measured and controlled, and calm and composed. Always, looking forward to listening to him speak.

World Speech Day 2021 on YouTube

When WSD Global put out a call worldwide for micro videos in order to build awareness and promote World Speech Day 2021 – l certainly didn’t expect to receive overwhelming support from the WSD community here. 

All in all, we have amassed a total of 25 promo videos – and in my book, that is a very good effort. Therefore, CV+ would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all those who have produced the said videos. GOOD JOB, EVERYBODY! 

Not only that but we are pleasantly surprised that many of these clips have garnered a more than decent number of views. To me, these are just promo videos, nothing more. And they are mostly of less than 80 seconds duration. 

And yet, 76% of this collection – you can find them all in our YouTube channel "WSD with CV Plus" – has more than 200 views!

There are not many people that we know of who’s a member of 3 different speaking clubs – these clubs have different approaches and platforms. Attend one of his club meetings and I betcha you’ll agree with us.

In Malaysia, World Speech Day is big on inclusivity and diversity.

As we’ve said many times, we want to see more young people take part in World Speech Day because it allows them to showcase their confident communication skills and their eloquence in public speaking.

FYI, this year, 22.2% of our total registrations are young people (i.e. those 17-years-old and below). In 2019, it was 21.5%. Let’s see more schools join in. 

So, sponsorships pave the way for many of them, particularly primary and secondary students to participate in this once-a-year speaking event.

Explanatory notes from Simon Gibson: “Please note the colon at the end of the phrase. It's there because we want to leave it open for each event, indeed each speaker, either to adopt this theme or adapt it for themselves by adding a phrase of their own. 

For example, ‘Humanity at a Crossroads: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion’ or ‘Humanity at a Crossroads: Protecting our Environment’, or simply ‘Humanity at a Crossroads’.
